Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to play?
No. Creating an account and playing is free, and nothing that gives experience, skills, combat items or gold is for sale. An optional premium with convenience perks will come later; it will not change how strong your character is.
Do I have to install anything?
No. Itzaria runs in the browser of your phone or computer. If you like, you can install it as an app (see below).
How do I start?
- Create your account and first character on Create account.
- Confirm your email with the link we send you.
- Tap Play now in your account: you go straight into the world without typing your password again.
Controls on a phone
- Move: drag the joystick (or use the D-pad, depending on your settings). Tapping a spot on the map walks you there.
- Attack or look: tap a monster to attack it; tapping a player or an NPC looks at them.
- Use or open: double tap an item, a door or a container.
- Move an item: hold your finger on it for about half a second and drag it. For a stack we ask for the amount.
- Context menu: hold still on something, or tap with two fingers. It offers Look, Use with…, Move…, Attack and more.
- Zoom: pinch or spread two fingers on the map.
- Spells: cast them by typing their words or from the quick-access bar.
- Settings: in the menu, the “Touch controls” section lets you change the control type, size, screen side (for left-handed players) and vibration.
Controls on a computer
Click to walk, Ctrl + click to use or attack, Shift + click to look, right click for the menu, arrow keys or WASD to move, and drag to move items.
How to install the game as an app (PWA)
Installing is optional, but it opens faster and uses the whole screen.
- Android (Chrome): open the game, tap the three-dot menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- iPhone and iPad (Safari): tap the share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On iOS it has to be done from Safari.
- Computer (Chrome or Edge): click the install icon in the address bar.
The first time, the game graphics are downloaded and stored on your device; afterwards you only need a connection to play.
How do I turn on notifications?
They are optional: alerts on your device when your daily tasks are ready, when your house rent is due in 3 days or when a guild invites you. We send at most one per day (you can change it) and you can turn them off whenever you want.
- Log in and open Notifications.
- Tap Turn on in this browser and allow notifications when the browser asks.
- In the game you can also type
!notificationsin the chat to see them, turn them off or change the daily maximum.
On iPhone and iPad (iOS 16.4 or later) they only work if you install the website on the Home Screen: in Safari tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, open it from that icon and turn the alerts on from there.
My connection dropped
Your character stays in the world for a few seconds. After a short drop the game reconnects by itself. If it does not, log back in with Play now.
Which data of my character is public?
Name, level, vocation, city, guild and rank, last login and the latest deaths. Your email, your account and your items are never shown.
I cannot find my character in the highscores
The ranking is recalculated every 15 minutes and lists the top 100 of every category. Game staff characters and suspended accounts are not listed.
Game rules
These rules exist so everyone can play in peace. Game staff (GMs) may warn, mute, kick or suspend accounts that break them; every decision is logged.
1. Respect
- No insults, harassment, discrimination or threats, neither in chat nor in names.
- Character names may not imitate game staff or contain offensive words or personal data.
- Do not publish other people's private information.
2. Fair play
- Using outside programs that play for you (bots), modify the client or give an advantage (hacks, automatic macros) is forbidden.
- Exploiting game bugs to obtain items, gold or experience is forbidden. If you find one, tell us.
- Duplicating items, or asking for or giving items in exchange for exploiting a bug, is punished for every party involved.
3. Accounts
- An account is personal: do not share it, sell it or buy it.
- Using several accounts to abuse bonuses, rewards or other players is forbidden.
- We do not sell, and do not accept real money for, items, gold or characters between players.
4. Player combat
- Killing players for no reason is marked as unjustified and has in-game consequences.
- Do not use combat to harass: chasing the same person to stop them from playing is punished.
5. Sanctions
- They depend on severity and repetition: warning, mute, temporary kick or account suspension.
- If you think a sanction was a mistake, write to us with your account name.
These rules are a draft and may be adjusted before launch; changes will be announced in the news.
